DRP: the first Drop Culture Festival in Paris

Shared Magazine captured the best moments of the first festival in Paris dedicated to Drop Culture, this young trend of limited editions, exclusive collaborations and certain feeling of FOMO. From streetwear fashion brands to iconic sneakers collaborations, DRP presents a dedicated space to Metaverse and NFTs experience, gaming and live music.

DRP Paris introduces a physical gathering space to a digital-native Gen Z and millennial audience in the Grand Palais Éphémère.

DRP is probably the only event that intersects sectors such as fashion, youth culture and Metaverse in the French capital. Their fashion brand selection focus on sustainability, vintage and independent creators, although these categories differ for the sneakers area where Sneakerness, a network of professionals of the kicks industry, deploy various stands with iconic, avant garde and high-demand models.

Throughout our visit, we discover some NFTs and Metaverse proposals who were also present at the latest Viva Tech in Paris. This reinforces the idea that the fashion sector —particularly luxury— should be diving into the know-how of the gaming industry for learning how to optimise user interaction and create high-value brand experience on this field.

Boris Vey, director of Events and Partnerships, shared: “We wanted to create DRP as a space for Drop Culture, and there was none in Paris. There is one in Berlin, another one in Spain, but nothing here. And we are the capital of fashion ! (laughs) But we did not have anything that celebrated drop culture as we know it.”
